Drywall has quickly become the favourite building material of families worldwide. And the reason for this is simple – it is easy to install and in just a nick of time you can entirely change a room or create a new one! Drywall boards are used in interior decorating to split one room into two or also as a material of insulation. There are a few tips we will give you when you have decided in favour of installing drywall:
- the first thing you need to decide is whether you need to use single-layer drywall boards or double-layer ones. Double-layer boards are recommended for use in places where sound insulation or fire-resistance is more important than usual.
- Cutting drywall is easy – use a special, sharp knife to do that and cut a line into the board after making the relevant measurements, the board will break easily along the cut line.
- Installing drywall to the ceiling usually requires two people as it is quite difficult to do it alone. You can also use special tools that will hold the drywall against the ceiling from the other end.
- Two boards should be pressed tightly together from the edges not leaving a gap. When dealing with corners, the drywall boards need to be cut and measured with special care for a correct result.
