how do i fill/conceal the seams between panels? i purchased a mobile home, and want to paint and paper the walls.

the seams, of course are every 4 feet and there's a strip of plastic (molding?) between panels...is it possible to remove them without effecting the strength of the walls? i don't want cracks. this is a 2001 dutch model. 28 x 80
