Is drywall (gypsum) edible | |
I know of a small child who has taken up gnawing on the corner of a wall. How can this affect her health?

The child may have what is known as a "Pica." A pica is simply eating with the unconcious desire to gain nutrients from a non-nutrient source.
Eating gypsum could possibly prove to cause a bowel obstruction or some other GI tract irritation and it probably exposes the child to more background radiation than would be considered within a "normal" range.
Check with your physician and/or a dietician.
